How much does it cost to attend, how do I pay?

This year the total cost of attendance is $130 per person. That includes transportation to/from the Northern California Renaissance Faire at Casa De Fruta in Hollister, CA, as well as ticketed entry and refreshments en route.

Please submit a minimum $45 deposit per person no later than 8/10 to:

Please note: The Renaissance Faire Raid is a passion project from beginning to end. I have never made a profit throwing this event, nor do I ever expect to. Every dollar collected goes directly toward the operating costs of the day. My goal is to curate a unique and exciting experience for renaissance faire veterans and first timers alike, while keeping participation as affordable as possible.

Are costumes required?  What should I wear, and where can I find it?

No, costumes are not required.  However, we have attended in the past in plain clothes, and find it much more entertaining and enjoyable when we are dressed up.  There are several websites that sell period specific medieval and renaissance attire.  Check out Dark Knight Armoury, just don’t wait to the last minute to order from them.  Although they ship quickly, their website stock is frequently out of date so items may be backordered.  Alternatively, making your costume can be a lot of fun, and not very difficult.

Can I drink on the bus?

You bet your sweet, 15th century ass you can.  BYOBooze if you’re particular, but there will be refreshments on the bus, as well as non-alcoholic options and water.  I will provide sparkling mead (huzzah!) from Heidrun Meadery en-route.  The beverage options within the faire are mainly mead (huzzah!), beer, and wine.

Can I bring a sword?  Dagger? Axe?

Yes.  However, all bladed weapons must be peace tied prior to entrance into the faire, as bare steel is not permitted and grounds for eviction from the event.  The nerds at the front gate will help you do this for free if required.

What happens if I’m late for departure?

Please don’t be late.  I know it’s difficult, but do your best to leave home early and arrive on time.  We only have the bus for the times listed, and your tardiness will hold up the entire production as we result in less time spent at the faire.

Anything else?

Weather: check the forecast in the days/weeks leading up to the faire. It is safe to assume it will be hot, but that’s just part of the experience.

Food: there are many food vendors throughout the fair, bring cash if you can.  Vegan options are unfortunately limited.

Leaving items on the bus: our driver normally leaves to spend the day elsewhere, however the bus will remain a secure space to leave personal belongings and clothing.
